Our Client, located in Westport, currently owns and operates 14 communities across 3 states, from independent to assisted living, to memory care and skilled nursing/rehabilitation. Their growth is strong, with multiple communities in development throughout the Eastern seaboard and Midwest. They are seeking a Staff Accountant to join their growing team ASAP.
The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial reporting. In order to best perform their duties and responsibilities, an Accountant should possess the following skills and qualifications

The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial reporting. In order to best perform their duties and responsibilities, an Accountant should possess the following skills and qualifications

Primary Responsibilities
- Process various transactions in the accounting system, including journal entries, billing and cash receipts
- Prepare supporting schedules for estimates and allocation of expenses
- Assist monthly close process by reconciliating balance sheet accounts and analyzing discrepancies
- Perform variance analysis of general ledger accounts
- Assist in preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule
- Lead and participate in monthly financial reviews with community management by analyzing financial data and interpreting results of operations
- Assist in preparing monthly financial reporting package for upper management
- Assist with external audit requests and other corporate reporting requirements
- Assist with development, maintenance and documentation of all policies and procedures related to assigned areas of responsibility
Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification
- Demonstrates proficiency in:
- MS Office – Intermediate Excel skills required
- Yardi (preferred), or other accounting software
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 2-5 years of relevant accounting experience (public experience preferred)
- Basic understanding of accounting rules and procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
