Staff Accountant
Location: Wellington, FL 33414
Salary: $70,000 per year

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant with advanced Excel skills and a strong work ethic. The ideal candidate will be proactive, able to handle a large volume of tasks, and have a hands-on approach to getting the job done. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining financial records, tracking the organization’s assets, liabilities, profits, losses, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general cost accounting and related duties.
- Process accounts receivable (A/R) and accounts payable (A/P).
- Maintain the general ledger by recording entries and managing files.
- Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books.
- Reconcile bank accounts monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks.
- Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
- Manage accounts receivable collections.
- Verify and complete payment of invoices related to accounts payable, ensuring appropriate account charging.
- Assist outside auditors by providing necessary account information and documents for the annual audit.
- Coordinate with software vendors to maintain and update the accounting software system.
- Manage the purchasing and invoicing system.
- Stay current on accounting practices and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Core Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- In-depth knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Ability to prepare tax reports correctly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Experience with accounting software.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field required.
- Three to five years of experience in a private industry tax accounting capacity.
- Experience with month-end accruals, bank reconciliations, and journal entries required.
- Experience with cost accounting is highly preferred.
- Experience in a CPA firm.
