Position Summary
Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, as part of the finance team, KIND'sStaff Accountant will provide administrative support to the accounting department by performing various clerical tasks. The staff accountant should be outgoing, motivated, intellectually curious, and proactive.
This role is based remotely in the Washington DC area, with a requirement of one day per week in the office at Headquarters.
Essential Functions
- Maintains financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
- Prepares journal entries, account reconciliations, and assists with monthly close processes.
- Assists in expense reimbursement and credit card reconciliations.
- Maintains documentation for accounts payable and treasury and conducting internal audits.
- Performs monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Meets processing and reporting deadlines.
- Responds to information requests, reviewing financial statements, and assisting with audits.
- Ensures compliance with GAAP.
- Assists the Accounts Payable Manager and Controller as needed.
- Supports duties related to accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Manages basic office administrative tasks including bank deposits, filing, reporting, and emailing.
- Maintains vendors and employees' profiles.
- Assists with other ad hoc projects as requested by management.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or similar field required.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant, hands-on accounting experience.
- Proficient to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, including Excel.
- Knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently on assigned duties.
- Excellent communication skills and social skills for teamwork and management.
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities; ability to deliver high-quality results in a timely manner.
- Ability to work within an office environment and have regular interaction via telephone, video conference, IM, and email with KIND's team.
- Ability to work collaboratively and multi-task in our KIND environment, managing numerous priorities and emerging opportunities.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites (such as Teams, Excel, etc.)
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment; ability to prioritize tasks and delegate as appropriate.
- Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, lived experiences, and communication styles.
