Role: Staff Accountant
Hiring Type: Contract to Hire
Location: Washington, DC
Pay: $28-30
Conversion Salary: 60-70k
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 1-2 years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit accounting
- Experience with accounting software (NetSuite is a plus)
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Job Description:
- Prepare and maintain financial records, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
- Participate in audits and assist with the preparation of audit schedules
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements in accordance with nonprofit accounting guidelines
- Collaborate with other departments to support budgeting and financial planning
