As a Staff Accountant with this firm, he/she will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with all accounting standards and regulations. This role plays a key part in supporting the company's day-to-day financial operations, working closely with the finance department to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update general ledger accounts by recording financial transactions and ensuring accuracy.
- Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company policies.
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Support financial leadership with budgeting and forecasting, and variance analysis from actual financial results.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
- Assist with tax filings and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Work with other departments to ensure financial information is accurately reflected in business operations.
- Identify and recommend improvements to accounting processes and procedures.
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and other duties as assigned by the finance manager or controller.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA candidate or CPA eligibility preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience in accounting or a related financial role.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
