Staff Accountant - Marcum Search

Marcum Search is assisting our client with their search for a Staff Accountant in Shaker Heights.
The ideal candidate must have strong accounting, analytical, technological, communication, and interpersonal skills. This person will be collaborating with bookkeeping, field and design staff and consultants, preparing and monitoring progress invoicing, reconciling bank accounts, overseeing with the ability to process A/P and payroll, closing month-end, and involved in managing cashflow. Key Responsibilities
- All A/R tasks to include setting up new jobs, prepare bi-weekly invoicing, apply customer payments/bank deposits, and project reconciliation/budget vs actual analysis
- Oversee payroll, payroll journal entries, and tracking PTO
- Oversee timesheet entries for allocation to appropriate Item cost-codes
- Oversee all Accounts Payable tasks to include: job/expense allocations, month end cut offs, vendor COI updates and weekly vendor payments.
- Maintain all QuickBooks Master Files to ensure continuity and accuracy
- Tracking and managing overhead items
- Forecasting and managing cash flow
- Managing, revising, and maintaining financial policies and procedures
- Reconcile General Ledger for month end reporting.
- Reconcile operating and investing bank accounts
- Working with outside Financial Consultant to assist in completing monthly, quarterly, and annual closings to include: financial statements, project reporting, budgets and analysis
- Monthly WIP updates and journal entries
- Report and Filing of BWC Annual Reconciliation
- Preparing bi-weekly Client progress billings and job closeout invoice and financial reports
- Completing job autopsy development and analysis to feed estimating systems refinements
Qualifications
- Cost Accounting, Project Accounting, Construction, or industry experience preferred
- Strong technology expertise including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks Desktop for Construction (preferred) or other products i.e. Sage/Peachtree or Timberline Construction, UDA Construction Suite/Online
- Business systems oriented with the ability to learn new accounting and business software applications.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- Ability to work well with team members from different departments.
- Proactive and self-motivated
- Strong communication and organizational skills
