At VetPowered, the Staff Accountant specialized in Aerospace Manufacturing and Preventative Maintenance Service with a focus on commercial and government contracts, your role is instrumental in driving revenue growth and expanding our market presence. You will be responsible for assisting in the accurate recording, analysis, and reporting of manufacturing costs within the organization. Here is a detailed breakdown of your responsibilities:
- Cost Accounting: Assist in the preparation and maintenance of cost accounting records, including but not limited to material costs, labor costs, and overhead expenses. Ensure accurate allocation of costs to projects or products.
- Inventory Management: Support inventory control processes by reconciling inventory records, conducting physical inventory counts, and analyzing inventory variances. Collaborate with procurement and production teams to optimize inventory levels.
- Financial Analysis: Assist in analyzing manufacturing costs and variances, providing insights into cost drivers and trends. Prepare regular reports and presentations for management review.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Participate in the annual budgeting process by providing cost data and assisting in the development of cost budgets. Contribute to forecasting activities and variance analysis throughout the year.
- Cost Control Measures: Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. Implement cost control measures in collaboration with operational teams while ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements related to manufacturing costs. Support external audits and internal control assessments.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Stay updated on changes in accounting practices and recommend adjustments as needed.
- Customer Service and Administrative Support: Assist with office duties such as answering phones, engaging with customers, vendors, and suppliers in support of sales, purchasing, and compliance.
- Responsible for accounting of real property, to include handling of tenant payments and tenant-related issues.
- Resolving real estate associated maintenance issues and expense reporting.
- Other duties as required in support of the department and company goals.
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily (with or without an accommodation). The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related fields, or any combination of professional and education experience that it equivalent.
- 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting or related roles in manufacturing or aerospace industries.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Must have experience in Quickbooks Online.
- Experience in UniPoint, and JobBoss (a plus)
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Important Notes
Position Details: This is a full-time salaried (exempt) position (40 hours/week). This position will be located 100% onsite. No remote or telecommuting is authorized for this position.
Pay: This pay does not include any opportunity for incentive compensation and is only reflective of the base pay for this position.
The range of pay for this California-based position is $67,000-$75,000 annually.
Incentive Compensation: Potential for bonus/incentives after one full year of employment.

Work Environment: The employee works in a contract manufacturing facility in an urban industrial neighborhood. Other areas within the facility are mixed use such as administration, classrooms, welding, and machining areas.
Employee may have additional environmental hazards such as: chemical, electrical, flammable, or mechanical in nature.
