A renowned healthcare organization in San Diego is looking to hire a Staff Accountant. This is a great opportunity to join an organization making a big impact in people's lives. In this role you will support the Accounting Manager & controller to ensure all accounting activities are completed on a monthly and annual basis

Responsibilities:
1. Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger,and utilities.
2. Monitor and analyze accounting data to produce accurate and timely financial reports or statements.
3. Prepare and review monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts.
4. Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment strategy.
5. Maintain accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts and defining accounting policies and procedures.
6. Coordinate and complete annual audits by working with both internal and external auditors.
7. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
8. Utilize accounting IT system (PeopleSoft) to maintain records and generate reports.
9. Manage and calculate taxes and deductions.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field is required.
2. Minimum of 2 years of proven accounting experience.
3. Strong understanding and experience with depreciable assets.
4. Proficiency in using PeopleSoft or similar accounting software.
5. Strong knowledge of business and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
6. High attention to detail and accuracy.
7. Ability to direct and supervise.
8. Excellent analytical skills with an ability to drive meaningful actions from large data sets.
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
