Oliver Inc. is looking for an expert and accurate Staff Accountant who will play a crucial role in supporting the finance team by handling a diverse range of responsibilities. From managing cost accounting tasks such as reviewing daily sales margins and monitoring variances to processing invoices and handling credit collections, you will be at the heart of our financial operations. Reporting directly to the Controller, you will also calculate and pay commissions, assist with inventory counts, prepare journal entries, reconcile invoices, handle bank reconciliations, and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
Your attention to detail and commitment to accuracy will be essential as you generate reports and assist with various financial tasks.

Responsibilities
- Assists the Plant Controller.
- Cost Accounting: manage review of daily sales margins, monitor/report significant variances of actual to standard, review costing of new items, ensure accuracy of standard costs.
- Credit and collections: post daily cash receipt to A/R, analyze A/R Collections on past due accounts.
- Calculate and pay commissions for internal sales reps, outside brokers and customer rebates.
- Assist with cycle counts and year end physical inventories.
- Prepare and enter month-end journal entries.
- Reconcile various vendor invoices.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
- Manage and maintain fixed assets listings/depreciation.
- Prepare annual 1099 tax forms.
- Prepare and submit monthly sales and use tax to the state of VA.
Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years related experience in manufacturing.
- Advanced use of Ms Word, Excel, and the ability to create spreadsheets and reports is required, experience with an integrated ERP system (such as JDE) is essential.
- Experience in financial reporting, accounting, and bank reconciliations in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting and regulations.
- Good Mathematical background.
- BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
- Extremely detail oriented.
- Team Player with ability to multi-task.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
