Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to join the Revenue Cycle Department. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting in managing financial operations related to revenue, billing, accounts receivable, and other accounting activities within the revenue cycle. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that billing and revenue processes are compliant, accurate, and efficient.
Key Responsibilities:
- Revenue Cycle Management: Support the revenue cycle by ensuring proper billing and collection processes are followed for skilled nursing and assisted living services.
- Account Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts related to revenue and billing, including verifying charges, payments, adjustments, and ensuring all transactions are properly recorded.
- Billing Support: Assist in preparing and reviewing invoices, ensuring accurate billing of patient services in line with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Accounts Receivable (AR) Tracking: Monitor and track accounts receivable, follow up on unpaid balances, and assist in collections when necessary.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to revenue cycle performance, including monthly reports on billing, collections, and aging reports.
- Data Entry & Documentation: Accurately input billing and payment data into the system, maintaining proper documentation for audit purposes.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulations, and guidelines (such as Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer requirements).
- Collaboration: Work closely with the billing team, management, and other departments to resolve discrepancies, improve processes, and address any revenue cycle concerns.
- Process Improvement: Recommend and assist with improvements to processes that enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the revenue cycle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in an accounting or revenue cycle role, preferably in healthcare, skilled nursing, or assisted living environments.
- Strong understanding of billing, collections, and accounts receivable processes, particularly in healthcare settings.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and standards related to healthcare billing (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance).
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with standard office hours.
- Some overtime may be required during peak periods or month-end close.
- Work will be performed in an office setting within the skilled nursing or assisted living facility.
