We're currently seeking a Staff Accountant on our Accounting team. In this role, you will primarily oversee our payroll processing and ensure timely reporting and payment of sales tax, VAT, and GST. In this role, you’ll be responsible for meticulously reviewing employee information and hours worked, reconciling wages, general ledger duties, and managing the preparation and processing of employee payments through our payroll vendor, ADP. Additionally, you’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate reporting and payment of sales tax, VAT, and GST using our vendor, Avalara.

Key Responsibilities:

• Indirect Taxes: Manage and ensure compliance with indirect taxes including VAT, GST, and Sales taxes. Summarize and upload data for tax return preparation by Avalara.
• Payroll Processing: Oversee semi-monthly payroll processing through ADP, including reviewing employee information and verification of time reporting, wages paid, authorized deductions.
• General Ledger: Maintain and oversee the accuracy of the general ledger as related to indirect tax liabilities and payroll and employee benefits accounts.  Prepare monthly bank reconciliation and related journal entries.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related experience.
• 3 years of experience in Key Responsibilities, with a focus on general ledger, reconciliations, and journal entries
• Experience with indirect taxes (VAT, GST, Sales taxes)
• Proficiency in accounting software (NetSuite preferred) and payroll systems (ADP preferred)
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet multiple deadlines
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment, with approximately 2 days in the office per week
