About the Job
Under the general direction of the Controller, the Staff Accountant will obtain, and process financial information related to Grand View Health and its related corporations to assist in the completion of financial reports and statements. The Staff Accountant will participate in the monthly accounting financial statement close process, including providing backup and support for the AP and PR functions. The Staff Accountants additional duties will include fixed asset reporting and assisting the Senior Accountants with Grand View Health's annual financial audits.
Essential Functions:
- Applies strong organization skills and attention to detail while performing daily, monthly, and yearly accounting tasks including posting standard journal entries, analyzing transactions and reconciling accounts related to the monthly financial statement close activities and assists with the financial statement preparation, in accordance with Accounting and Audit policies and procedures.
- Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Reviews accounting data and transactions, monthly, to ensure that all revenues and all expenses are properly recorded.
- Tracks fixed assets and prepaid assets, recording depreciation and amortization as appropriate and as per accounting standards.
- Reconciles the Fixed Assets (Property/Plant/Equipment) monthly purchases in preparation of the year end fixed asset report including schedules for the Auditors and in accordance with Accounting and Audit policy and procedures.
- Performs similar staff accounting functions for other corporate entities to ensure consistent processes across all GVH owned entities.
- Coordinates, responds, and provides reconciliations and transaction support to the external financial auditors during Fiscal Year Audits for GVH's sister Corporations.
- Serves as primary back-up for payroll and other related accounting functions to ensure that the Hospital's liabilities and assets are processed, recorded, and paid in a timely manner.
- Assist with the preparation, and in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures and IRS guidelines, Grand View Health, and its subsidiaries' applicable sales tax returns and annual 990.
- Ad-hoc duties as required and assigned to ensure that all GVH financial information is recorded and reported in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
High School diploma and over three (3) years accounting experience required.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or accounting, and 3 years of accounting experience preferred.
