Position Purpose
The Staff Accountant is responsible for day-to-day operational accounting duties, including but not limited to preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports. This position actively supports the quality and timeliness of the company’s monthly close and financial reporting processes.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supports the monthly close process by preparing assigned entries, reconciling assigned accounts and preparing support schedules and analysis.
- Manages the accounting of fixed assets for the organization, including Gains/Losses Depreciation.
- Ensure the recording of intercompany transactions with foreign subsidiaries and reconcile intercompany accounts.
- Prepare the inventory monthly journal entries and reconciliations.
- Assist other Erickson employees with inventory accounting functions
- Responsible for accurate billing activities and interface with customer and vendor relationships.
- Ensures compliance with the account policies and company procedures. Assists with updating documentation as necessary.
- Provides support during audits and reviews.
- Accepts ownership and responsibility of areas assigned
- Provide timely customer service to internal and external customers
- Has understanding of how transactions effect the accounts
- Timely informs manager when aware of events/transactions that need management attention
- Understands internal controls and supports the control environment
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA/CMA/MBA preferred but not required.
- 1 or more years of accounting experience required
- Proven strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of tools (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
- Experience with Accounting Systems desirable, RAMCO preferred.
- Ability to be adaptable and flexible to changing circumstances and work longer than 8 hours per day during critical periods.
- A proven master of mathematic skills, the ability to analyze figures.
- Relevant knowledge of US GAAP.
- Strong working understanding of reconciliations and accounting systems.
- Strong working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze complex data and recommend appropriate conclusions to the Controller.
