STAFF ACCOUNTANT
Reporting into the CFO, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for ensuring all company financial information is always accurately maintained. The role includes a critical component of working in a team environment to prepare financial reports for all our restaurants and participating in the month-end close process.
The successful individual will be highly entrepreneurial needing minimal supervision; someone who is motivated, has a positive can-do attitude, and is ready to hit the ground running. They will enjoy working in a very fast-paced and challenging environment as we continue to rapidly expand across North America.

Document all financial transactions and verify the correct flow of information between our various financial systems: Payroll (ADP Workforce Now), Restaurant point of Sales (Toast), Automated Payment processing (Comdata), AP Document indexing (MarginEdge), and Accounting (SAGE Intacct)
Record all sales and expense transactions to the appropriate general ledger accounts and cost centers for all company restaurants including daily, weekly, biweekly and monthly journals by following our established accounting processes
Record intercompany transactions and reconcile all Intercompany accounts on a monthly basis.
Work with other members of the PLANTA Finance and Payroll team to participate in timely Month-end and Year-end close process for all our restaurants and Management company; including preparation and release of Profit and Loss, and Cash flow statements on a monthly basis
Perform timely and accurate monthly bank account reconciliations
Summarize current financial status by collecting information and reconcile all financial discrepancies;
Work alongside Financial Controller and other Accountants to prepare detailed reconciliations of all Balance Sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
Maintain accounting controls by ensuring consistent adherence to PLANTA Finance Policies and Procedures
Assist with year-end external audits working papers and interim work as required
Document all business processes to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Conform with and abide by all legislative, statute and Accounting regulations including
Remain the first point of contact for accounting issues for both internal and external stakeholders, and ensure professional and positive close of all communication loops
Participate in a wide variety of ad-hoc reporting, special projects and analysis as necessary in our constantly evolving and growing company.
INGREDIENTS YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA designation or actively pursuing an accounting designation (i.e., currently enrolled in a certified accounting program).
2+ years of experience in general accounting in an entrepreneurial environment
Experience in the hospitality industry preferred
Experience with Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint, and intermediate to advanced Excel skills
Knowledge of financial analysis and regulatory required reporting
Knowledge of basic accounting principles, including GAAP and ASPE
Can-do attitude and ability to learn new applications/software systems effectively and efficiently
Ability to process data consistently with high level of accuracy and attention to detail is critical
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with operational and head office teams
Strong time management skills and ability to manage assignments and complete duties within tight and constantly evolving deadlines
Professional and conscientious; ability to work with and maintain confidential information
Fully understand and embody PLANTA’s can-do attitude, demonstrating a level of passion and dedication where no task is beneath you
