Are you a seasoned finance professional with a passion for making a difference? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Consulting Staff Accountant to join our team, specializing in the non-profit sector. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual, who is excited to work with a diverse portfolio of non-profit clients. This role will require a mix of hands-on accounting work, strategic financial consulting, and internal controls development. Responsibilities:
As a Consulting Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for:
1. Preparing and analyzing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
2. Overseeing grant accounting, ensuring compliance with funding source administrative guidelines, timely receipt of revenue, accurate submissions of financial reports, and proper recording of transactions.
3. Developing and implementing internal controls and financial procedures to ensure organizational efficiency and compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
4. Providing financial consulting services to non-profit clients, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
5. Conducting research on technical accounting issues for compliance and educating non-profit clients on best financial practices.
6. Collaborating with external auditors and managing audit processes.
7. Assisting with the preparation of annual budgets and financial strategic plans.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Consulting Staff Accountant position should have the following qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or MBA is highly preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably within the non-profit sector.
3. Solid understanding of GAAP and experience with financial reporting and grant accounting.
4. Proven experience in developing and implementing internal controls and financial procedures.
5. Exceptional analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
7. Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
8. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
9. Strong commitment to working with non-profit organizations and understanding their unique financial needs.
