Client Overview:

Our client is a New York-based financial group. They are seeking a Staff Accountant who would work out of their headquarters office located in the city.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$25/hr – $30/hr

Position Overview:

The Staff Accountant would be taking part in the month-end close process, reconciliations, and financial statements, and applying GAAP to ensure that every transaction within the organization complies with ethical and operational policies and procedures. The client is looking for someone who can assist the Accounting team with the day-to-day and who has experience in public accounting.

Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:

• Maintaining a general ledger.
• Prepare and review financial documents, reports, and statements.
• Processing monthly accruals, expenses, fixed asset depreciation, and recording or editing journal entries.
• Strong communication when responding to ad-hoc requests from management or peers.

Qualifications for the Staff Accountant:

• 2 – 5 years of experience working in Accounting or previous Staff Accountant experience.
• Knowledge of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
• Experience working with general ledger systems is preferred (NetSuite, Sage, QuickBooks, Oracle, etc.).
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is highly preferred.
