*Schedule: Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week, including a 30-minute paid lunch (some exceptions apply).

A staff accountant in a non-profit organization plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial health and transparency of the organization. The job duties of a staff accountant include, but are not limited to, the following
Essential Functions:
•Financial Record Keeping: Accurate recording of transactions to financial records, including ledgers and financial statements.
•Accounts Payable and Receivable: Managing timely payments and receipts, processing invoices, and reconciling accounts with vendors and donors.
•Budget Management: Assisting in the preparation and monitoring of budgets, tracking expenditures, and responding to inquiries on variance reports.
•Financial Reporting: Assistance with preparing regular financial reports for internal stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
•Compliance and Auditing: Ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, assisting in preparing audit workpapers, and responding to inquiries.
•Grant Management: Overseeing the financial aspects of grants, including tracking expenditures and preparing reports for funders.
•Collaboration: Working closely with other departments to provide financial insights and support for projects.
•Payroll Processing: Assistance with payroll functions, recording payroll to the general ledge and preparing departmental allocations.
•Continuous Improvement: Identifying and implementing process improvements for financial operations.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
•Proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills
•Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and accounts payable best practices
•Detail-oriented with exceptional accuracy and organizational skills
•Effective communication and interpersonal abilities to work collaboratively across departments
•Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage workload efficiently
•Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
•This position plays a significant role in ensuring the organization's financial resources are effectively managed to support its mission.
