Overview:
We are looking for a diligent staff accountant to join our accounting department. The staff accountant's responsibilities include maintaining financial records and reports, performing accounts reconciliations, and maintaining accounts payable documentation. To be successful as staff accountant, you should be able to accurately maintain a general ledger and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). An outstanding staff accountant should also have excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
Responsibilities:
• Processing transactions and performing accounting duties such as account maintenance, recording entries and reconciling subledgers by verifying posted accounting transactions
• Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
• Prepare and file monthly sales and use tax returns.
• Keeping track of prepaids, accruals.
• Assist with Accounts Payable.
• Assist with monthly close processes.
• Perform other duties as directed.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred)
• Solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting payables principles.
• Proven working experience as Staff Accountant 4+ years.
• Hands on experience with Excel (required), and proprietary software (Sage -preferred)
• High degree of accuracy, organization and attention to detail. Good problem-solving and time management skills.
• Bilingual: English/Spanish, both oral and written
