The role of the Staff Accountant entails furnishing management with financial insights through in-depth analysis of accounting data, report preparation, and active involvement in the month-end closing procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Works independently with general supervision and works on assignments of moderate scope where judgment is required in resolving problems and making recommendations.
- Will exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action, and normally receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.
- Analyzes business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments or obligations in order to project future revenues and/or expenses to provide insight/advice to management.
- Prepares and reviews account reconciliations to the general ledger.
- Prepares journal entries to record activity as part of month end close.
- Reviews and reconciles intercompany activity.
- Plans study and collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.
- Recommends new and/or updates policies and procedures to provide better financial management and greater efficiency.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university;
- or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Insert qualification 1
