Description We are recruiting a Staff Accountant to join our team in Lakewood, Washington. Your role will involve managing customer complaints, interpreting policies, aiding in fiscal cycle requirements, and providing management guidance to staff. This is a contract to permanent employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and provide guidance to staff for long-term fiscal cycle requirements.
- Act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations, and recommend necessary disciplinary actions.
- Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with State and Federal laws.
- Provide District interpretation on policies, procedures, and laws.
- Review and research file documentation to resolve customer-related complaints.
- Process daily electronic fund transfers (EFTs); prepare, process, review, and analyze cashiering daily work for completeness and accuracy.
- Handle NSF checks and verify against the bank.
- Process scholarships/refunds and billing/collections; work with Financial Aid to process reversals of financial aid and apply waivers to student accounts.
- Foster partnerships across the District and State.
- Provide advice and train department administrators regarding accounting rules, policy interpretation, and compliance issues on finance policy and procedures.
- Effectively communicate with internal and external customers to ensure all receivable-related questions are answered and resolved, if necessary, promptly. Requirements - Possess strong knowledge and understanding of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes.
- Demonstrated experience in carrying out bank reconciliations with high accuracy.
- Proficiency in maintaining and managing general ledger activities.
- Capability to prepare and process journal entries in a timely and efficient manner.
- Experience in performing month end close activities, ensuring all financial data is accurate.
- Proficiency in using NetSuite for accounting and financial management tasks.
- Familiarity with Oracle financial software for efficient and effective accounting operations.
- Ability to use QuickBooks for various accounting tasks, including invoicing, bill payments, and financial report generation.
- Experience with SAP for efficient financial management and accounting.
- Proven record of supervising entry level staff, providing guidance, and ensuring adherence to accounting principles and company policies.
