Key Responsibilities as a Staff Accountant:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Account Reconciliation: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Variance Analysis: Perform actual-to-budget variance analysis, collaborating with various departments to address discrepancies.
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation, schedules, and explanations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all accounting practices comply with industry regulations and standards, including FERC reporting requirements.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
- Special Projects: Participate in special projects, ad hoc reporting, and other initiatives as directed by management.
Qualifications to Excel as a Staff Accountant:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of accounting experience, ideally within the energy industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
