Client Overview:
Our client is seeking a Staff Accountant to help them for the next 3+ months. The Staff Accountant has impressive academic achievements, and hands-on work experience, and is excited to develop their skills in accounting in a team-collaborative Accounting department.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$28/hr – $30/hr
Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant will be the primary assistant to the Accounting department, supervised by the Accounting Manager. This is an incredible opportunity for a Staff Accountant professional to enhance their accounting career in a position that will develop alongside the departmental (system & processes) changes in the first year. The ideal Staff Accountant candidate will be forward-thinking, team collaborative, and possess an ability to pivot priorities.
Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare monthly financial statements, including revenue recognition, fixed assets, and lease accounting.
- Maintain and update supporting schedules in accordance with the financial statements.
- Prepare cash flow/forecasts and assist the Senior Accountant in cash flow management.
- Review bank deposits, keep accurate daily cash ledgers, and reconcile bank accounts monthly.
- Review accounts payable transactions to ensure compliance with accounting, contracts, and grant requirements.
- Prepare and process journal entries.
- Reconcile fundraising reports.
- Ensure all federal, state, unemployment, and other taxes stay compliant and paid promptly.
Qualifications for the Staff Accountant:
- Recent graduate or 1+ years of work experience.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, and formulas).
- Experience with SAGE Abila MIP is a plus.
- Eager to learn and possesses strong communication skills.
- Organized and efficient – is deadline-driven.
- Upbeat attitude and willingness to assist others.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics is required.
