Key responsibilities of a staff accountant:
- Account reconciliations: Regularly reconciling bank statements and other accounts to ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Financial reporting: Preparing and analyzing various financial reports like balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Data entry: Inputting financial transactions into accounting software to maintain accurate records.
- Journal entries: Posting journal entries for various business activities.
- Accounts payable/receivable management: Processing invoices, tracking outstanding payments, and managing customer receivables.
- Payroll processing: Calculating and processing payroll, including deductions and taxes.
- Tax preparation: Assisting with the preparation and filing of tax returns.
- Audit preparation: Gathering and organizing documentation for internal and external audits.
- Budgeting: Assisting with budget planning and tracking
- Compliance: Ensuring adherence to accounting standards and regulations.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP)
