Staff Accountant
Reports To: Operations Accounting Manager
Job Summary The Staff Accountant will be an integral part of the corporate accounting team, supporting the financial operations of the organization. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, and assisting in financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles and demonstrate strong attention to detail in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist with reconciling bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial accounts on a regular basis.
· Prepare journal entries and ensure timely posting to the general ledger.
· Support the maintenance of intercompany account balances and reconciliations.
· Collaborate with FBO accountants to ensure accurate recording of fuel pricing, capex, rents, utilities, and other financial transactions.
· Maintain the fixed assets ledger by recording additions, disposals, and depreciation.
· Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for monthly financial close.
· Monitor and report on accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) aging reports.
· Assist in the preparation of management financial reporting packages, including variance and profitability analysis.
· Support compliance with lease accounting and maintain lease schedules.
· Aid in periodic physical inventories and reconciliation of discrepancies.
· Participate in the preparation of documents and schedules for external audits.
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies.
· Support the implementation and monitoring of internal controls within the accounting department.
· Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance operational efficiency.
· Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and projects as needed.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· 1-3 years of accounting experience.
· Knowledge of GAAP and basic accounting principles.
· Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
· High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
