About the Job
A recognized organization in Florida is looking to fill an immediate need with the addition of a new Staff Accountant to their growing team. In this role, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing moderately complex work in accounting systems and related aspects of financial management including financial reporting, budget analysis, grant reporting, debt compliance/reconciliation, internal audit, and cash management.
About the Opportunity:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Assignment Length: 3 months
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 8am to 5pm
- Setting: Onsite (5 days a week)
Responsibilities:
- Providing assistance to Accounting Manager during the annual financial audit by preparing necessary schedules and notes to financial statements
- Monitoring expenditures and compiles data to assist with preparation of budget estimates
- Analyzing records of financial transactions to determine the accuracy and completeness of entries
- Preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, amortization and depreciation schedules, and other financial schedules and analyses
- Preparing bank and petty cash reconciliations
- Preparing deposits, monitoring daily & monthly bank reports/statements and incoming wires, including preparing wire transfer requests
- Analyzing capital outlay/fixed assets to determine the accuracy and completeness
- Preparing written financial reports, memos, letters involving moderately complex accounting and financial issues
- Providing assistance to the Accounting Manager, Director of Accounting, and Executive Director of Finance on ad hoc accounting and finance related matters
- Performing other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of related Accounting experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, and/or a related field
- Prior experience in Governmental Accounting / Auditing settings and Fixed Asset Accounting
- Knowledge of Government Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standard Board 34 (GASB 34) reporting requirements
- Knowledge of Governmental Accounting principles, theory, and procedures
- Comprehensive knowledge of Financial functions, Government Fund Accounting, Fixed Assets, Auditing, and Automated Accounting systems
- Knowledge of Financial Systems applications & methods, spreadsheet and word processing programs
- Solid analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills:
- Certification as Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
