Background: The Staff Accountant is a member of the Finance team responsible for (1) various month-end financial analyses and activities associated with the month-end financial close, and (2) Payroll
The ideal candidate will be extremely reliable, detail oriented, and customer service oriented. The ideal candidate will have experience with GAAP accounting, payroll, and the monthly
financial closing process. The candidate will work collaboratively and with a team of skilled professionals in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, demonstrating precision and expertise while maximizing efficiency and
productivity. The position reports to the Controller.
Responsibilities include:
- Proficiency in the daily use of MS Excel and MS Word.
- Perform account reconciliation and analysis, including Cash, Accounts Receivable, Prepaid
- Expenses, Deposits, Inventory, Fixed Assets, Accrued Expenses, Notes Payable, Members Equity,Inter-company balances, Payroll, etc.;
- Create and post Journal Entries including maintenance of recurring journal entries and allocations;
- Summarize current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports;
- Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures;
- Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information;
- Prepare monthly bank and petty cash reconciliation;
- Monthly Expense report processing and reconciliation with the accounting system and AMEX credit card statements;
- Assist with preparation for annual audits;
- Protect operations by keeping financial information confidential;
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies;
- Perform special projects as required.
