JOB SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with overall accounting functions/financial operations, account reconciliations, supporting general A/P and A/R, maintaining bookkeeping and accounting records. Provides backup/assistance for payroll, accounts payable, and other tasks and projects as assigned. The Staff Accountant should possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares and maintains financial documents such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Assists with the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Analyzes financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborates with other departments to gather financial information and support decision-making.
- Banking and cash management responsibilities.
- Stays updated on accounting standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Supports accounts payable and payroll processing to ensure accuracy.
- Maintains bookkeeping and accounting records.
- Back-up to accounts payable and payroll functions as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
EXPERIENCE
- One year of experience required, in a non-profit preferred.
- Understanding of accounting concepts and recording accounting transactions.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
- Experience in performing account reconciliations, month-end close process, and preparation of financial reports.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
- Commitment and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong planning, organizational, and follow-up skills.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills.
