Job Responsibilities
Staff Accountant responsibilities include facilitating and completing monthly close procedures, assisting with the analysis of financial statements on a monthly basis as well as reports on variances. Staff Accountants can also assist with preparing tax returns and corporate reporting requirements.
Additional responsibilities for the Staff Accountant include:
- Preparing monthly account reconciliations
- Assisting with quarterly producer commission reports by analyzing and correcting discrepancies
- Assisting with the documentation and monitoring of internal controls
- Maintain general ledger and prepare entries by maintaining records and reconciling accounts
- Ensure journal entries accuracy and that transactions are reported in accordance with accounting standards and government regulations
- prepare journal entries relating to amortization, depreciation, accruals, and a variety of other information
- At the end of the month or year, record information such as accrual, deferral, reclass, and interdepartmental entries into the company’s accounting ledger and to make sure that entries and balances are correct
- Prepares and reviews accrued expenses; prepaid expenses; assigning account numbers; reconciling accounts.
- Analyze financial information options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying the information.
- Provides accounting support for mergers and acquisitions by reviewing financial information; converting data to general ledger system; obtaining supplementary information for preparing financial statements.
- Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes
- Ensure that data supports budgeting and forecasting requirements
- Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed, very flexible, growing environment
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of accounting/finance experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
- CPA candidate is a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to read and understand financial reports and technical forms
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Strong communication, written and oral
Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 Per Year
