Staff Accountant (Full Time) - Lake Charles Memorial Health System

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

• The Staff Accountant performs detailed accounting functions for the System relating to the recording of transactions and production of financial statements and performance metrics.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Assists in operating cash reconciliation and posting daily deposits, reconciliations and resolves any discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Generate routine accounting reports on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis.
• Work closely and professionally with other accounting team members.
• Assist accounts payable and/or payroll when directed.
• Attend and participate in meetings as required.
• Assist in month-end close process.
• Accurately prepare journal entries.
• Furnish internal reports as needed and revise/update reports to be more useful and efficient.
• Assist in preparing annual budgets to all facilities and leadership.
• Assists with parish and state sales tax tracking, filing, and payments.
• Communicates appropriately and professionally with management and outside auditors.
• Perform Performs other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and equivalent work experience in the Accounting Field.
• 2-3 Years of experience of working in accounting.
• Advanced Computer skills.
• Advanced Mathematical skills.
• Proficient in the use of excel, word, and power point.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
• Ability to define and solve problems individually.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

• Work may require a variety of physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, stooping.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time.
• The work environment may be physically confining.
• Must be able to exchange accurate information with patients, family, peers and medical personnel.
