We are looking for a Staff Accountant who will play a crucial role in our finance team, ensuring the effective management and control of the organization's fixed assets. You will be responsible for performing complex accounting tasks related to the maintenance and control of the organization's fixed assets. This role offers a dynamic and stimulating work environment where you will be able to apply and grow your financial expertise. The position requires a motivated, detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Responsibilities:
1. Maintain the Fixed Assets and associated depreciation schedules on the FAS Software System; provide monthly detail for General Journal entries; ensure proper recording of new purchases and disposals.
2. Conduct periodic physical inventory counts of fixed assets.
3. Prepare property tax returns for multiple states.
4. Analyze related accounts, prepare and post journal entries, and reconcile the balance sheet.
5. Provide support to the team in the monthly forecast and annual budget process.
6. Conduct analyses related to fixed assets as requested by management.
7. Track company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations.
8. Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets, and assist the auditors in their inquiries.
9. Conduct regular fixed asset audits to ensure assets exist and are being depreciated correctly.
10. Work on special projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
2. Minimum of 3+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in fixed assets.
3. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
5. Experience with an ERP system is a plus.
6. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
7. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
9. The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
10. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
11. Ability to meet assigned deadlines.
