Job Title: Staff Accountant
Job Summary:
Our client, a dedicated non-profit organization, is seeking a detail-oriented and passionate Staff Accountant to join their finance team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the organization’s mission through effective financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Generate monthly financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with non-profit accounting standards and best practices.
- Assist in the annual budgeting process, including preparation, monitoring, and analysis of budget vs. actual variances.
- Monitor grant and donation revenues, ensuring proper allocation and compliance with funding requirements.
- Manage the accounting and reporting for grants, including tracking expenditures, preparing financial reports for funders, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of schedules for financial audits and respond to auditor inquiries as needed.
- Collaborate with program managers to provide financial insights and support for grant reporting and compliance.
- Maintain thorough documentation of financial processes and ensure adherence to internal controls.
- Process payroll and manage employee benefits as required.
- Stay updated on non-profit accounting regulations and industry trends.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, MIP Abila) and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Solid understanding of non-profit accounting principles and regulations.
- Experience with grant management and reporting, including compliance and financial tracking.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- CPA designation or working towards certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with compliance and regulatory requirements for non-profits.
