HYRBID WORK SCHEDULE -- (three days in the office and 2 days working from home).
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for sales audit and sales reconciliation with corresponding bank transactions. The Staff Accountant will also be responsible for reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts, preparation and entry of journal entries and complying with deadlines for month-end and year-end close along with providing information as necessary for analysis, audit, and tax purposes. The Staff Accountant will be assisting the accounting team with state and local tax and compliance filings.

Job Details

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for sales audit and sales reconciliation with corresponding bank transactions. The Staff Accountant will also be responsible for reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts, preparation and entry of journal entries and complying with deadlines for month-end and year-end close along with providing information as necessary for analysis, audit, and tax purposes. The Staff Accountant will be assisting the accounting team with state and local tax and compliance filings.
- Responsible for daily sales audit and reconciliation of the point of sales records with the accounting records
- Responsible for daily reconciliation of the cash and credit cards proceeds with the daily sales
- Responsible for detection and reporting of the discrepancy to management
- Assist with new store opening operations (bank accounts and credit cards set-up, deposit slips etc.)
- Assist the accounting team with state and local tax and compliance filings
- Prepare journal entries as necessary within month-end and year-end closing deadlines
- Maintain and reconcile assigned general ledger accounts
- Respond to questions related to assigned areas and assist others throughout the Company
- Work with external financial auditors and accountants
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley in assigned areas
- Cross-train with other positions as needed
Requirements
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
- Strong understanding of accounting processes including account reconciliations and internal controls required by Sarbanes Oxley
- Strong Excel skills, including proficiency in pivot tables and V-lookup functionality plus advanced MS Office experience
- Ability to solve problems and detail-oriented
- Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Strong people skills
- Flexibility and ability to multi-task
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 3+ years’ professional experience in Accounting required
- Experience working in the accounting department at mid to large size companies
Preferred qualifications
- Retail experience
- Experience with fixed assets
- JD Edwards experience
- CPA or CPA eligible a plus
