Job Details
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and control the General Ledger accounts and business transactions by applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), with a strong understanding of their application.
- Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; assist in the preparation of detailed reports and account analyses.
- Oversee payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes, and other stipends.
- Manage monthly closing of financial records and posting of month-end information, ensuring the accuracy of financial statements.
- Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax payments.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
- Assist in grant compliance, ensuring all financial reporting and regulatory requirements are met.
- Participate in the ongoing development and implementation of organizational strategies and procedures, contributing to short and long-term planning and strategy.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience with General Ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Hands-on experience with accounting software.
- Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
- Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
