Staff Accountant - Advisory and Consulting Services LLC
Columbus, OH
About the Job
Our client is a well know brand in the luxury apartment construction and property management space here in central Ohio. Over the years, they have diversified their business into related sectors, and due to growth have asked us to help them hire a Staff Accountant.
This is a great opportunity for a broad based Accountant. The day to day work includes AP / AR, monthly close, handling journal entries / reconciliations, etc. Most of the work will be with their property management / construction business, with work on other smaller LLC's owned by the firm.
The position reports to the CFO and Controller as part of a team of professionals. Flexibility and collaboration is a key element of this role and a part of the culture of the organization.
What makes this attractive over dozens of other similar positions?
- A growing, dynamic organization. While the core business is multifamily construction and property management (a booming market unto itself), executive leadership has an eye for diversification into complementary sectors.
- A variety of work. Getting deep into the primary business but also working full cycle on smaller businesses.
- Great work / life balance. Folks work hard, but rarely overtime or weekends. This stems from the executive leadership throughout the organization. It is not simply a practice but a philosophy.
- As you might guess, a very nice office environment with easy access to major arteries.
- Comprehensive benefits package that includes 15 days PTO the first year (pro-rated), holidays (including floating), strong insurance benefits, 401k, etc.
- Company events. A recent event had everyone going canoeing. Photos indicate much fun was had!
- Broad based experience (3+ years) in accounting operations. Solid experience in AP / AR, monthly close, handling journal entries / reconciliations, etc. Experience with monthly / quarterly statements, cash management, sales / property tax, and / or financial analysis is a plus.
- Solid experience with Quickbooks, and an aptitude for leveraging software to get the work done.
- Strength in Excel as it is used for data dumps and CSV uploads. Familiarity with features including VLOOKUP, IFSUM, pivot tables is ideal.
- An aptitude for problem solving and a curious nature to proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
- Bachelors or Associates degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
- Experience in real estate, construction, property management, or small business accounting is a plus, but not required. Most of the current accounting team came from other industries.
