Summary:
We are seeking a meticulous and organized Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing the full cycle of accounts payable processes and ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments. This role is crucial in ensuring that all financial transactions are processed accurately and timely. In addition, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for areas such as payroll, accruals, and the month end close process. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, experience with payroll management, proficiency in various accounting software, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the monthly close process by preparing journal entries, conducting analyses, and performing account reconciliations.
- Perform general ledger reconciliation to verify the accuracy of accounts.
- Process accounts payable transactions, including invoices and payment requests.
- Match invoices with purchase orders and contracts, ensuring proper approvals are obtained.
- Monitor and maintain accounts payable aging reports to ensure timely payments and avoid late fees.
- Assist in payroll management, including the preparation and processing of monthly bonuses and commissions.
- Prepare all monthly payroll entries.
- Verify employee payroll deductions, earnings, and taxes.
- Process reimbursements and corporate credit card payments.
- Assist in monthly and year-end close processes, including accruals and reconciliations.
- Prepare reports such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Review and post all billing invoices and payments.
- Manage and file Personal Property Tax returns for all locations.
- Provide accounting support for mergers and acquisitions, including reviewing financial information and converting data to the general ledger system.
- Utilize accounting software such as Netsuite, Bill.com or Quickbooks for transaction processing and reporting.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role or a similar role within public accounting.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, payroll, month-end close, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Familiarity with payroll systems and HRIS platforms is preferred.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Suite.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with vendors and internal stakeholders.
