Hemington Landscape Services, Inc. is a multi-trade contractor specializing in commercial landscape installation, concrete construction, and park construction general contracting. Hemington was founded in 1984 and serves the greater Sacramento region. We are headquartered in Cameron Park, CA.

The Lead Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for contributing to the company's internal accounting and financial management systems. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Management:

• Work with Project Managers to complete monthly project billing reports. 
• Execute monthly accounts receivable process. Ensure accurate and timely processing and submission of contract invoices and change orders. 
• Reconcile accounts receivable monthly to ensure accuracy of AR entries. 
• Lead accounts payable operation under the guidance of controller or assistant controller. 
• Generate and maintain job specific lien releases including subcontractor lien waivers. 
• Follow internal financial controls and procedures in place. 
• Deposit checks received from customers and post cash receipts. 
• Complete weekly tasks as assigned under the weekly accounting checklist.  
• Complete all monthly close tasks assigned under the monthly close accounting checklist.
• Special accounting projects and reporting as assigned. 
• Lead daily accounting operations under the guidance of Controller or Assistant Controller.Troubleshoot issues before escalating to senior management resolution. 
• Other accounting and financial management duties as assigned. 

Team Participation & Development 

• Assist in development and training of other accounting staff. 
• Lead staff accountants and other accounting staff as assigned. 
• Participate and contribute to accounting staff meetings. 
• Represent and communicate companies core values to team members, customers, and vendors. 
• Other duties as assigned.

Experience/Job Requirements:

• Valid driver's license with favorable DMV record.
• Willingness to submit personal credit report. 
• Authorization to work in the Unites States. 
• Strong desire to be a part of a close working supportive team.
• Sense of humor and strong EQ. 
• Strong track record in accounting, finance, or equivalent experience. 
• Strong character references. 
• A willingness to learn and complete tasks as needed that supports the team.
• Strong ability to work with various software systems and networks. 
• Proficient understanding of construction accounting principles and procedures.
