Opportunity Overview
As a Staff Accountant, you will report directly to the Assistant Controller and will be a critical member of the accounting operations team. You will be involved in the monthly and quarterly financial statement close process, the annual audit, and other financial and accounting systems. You will also be responsible for assisting in and reviewing the Company’s accounting policies, procedures, and controls. The role is part of our Finance and Accounting team and will have significant interaction with the accounting team including the Corporate Controller, VP of FP&A, and other operational stakeholders.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform cash journal entries and monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepare and maintain fixed assets and depreciation/amortization schedules
- Preparation and posting of monthly/quarterly journal entries to the General Ledger and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare documentation for the external quarterly reviews and annual audits of financial statements and internal controls in line with SOX 404
- Assist with design and maintenance of company policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Assist with ad hoc special projects designed to implement and improve processes and to facilitate change
- Perform other responsibilities across the accounting department as needed
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA a plus
- Strong working knowledge of accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong working knowledge of internal controls and SOX 404 requirements
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in public accounting or finance-related roles; Biotech/Pharmaceuticals experience a plus
- Demonstrated ability to consistently work within fixed timeframes and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Excel
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or a similar accounting system preferred
This role is based out of our corporate office in Boston, Massachusetts. Rhythm operates in a hybrid-work model. Candidates applying must be willing and able to be in the Boston office in coordination with their department and business needs.
