About the Job
A PE-backed, SaaS company has an opening for a Staff Accountant to join their team on a remote basis. The Staff Accountant will report to the CFO & have the primary responsibility of hands-on US GAAP accounting. The Staff Accountant will also get involved with assisting with process improvements & system implementations.
Up to $70,000 DOE.
The role requires someone to be local to be the Boston area and will be in the office a few days each week.
Job Description:
- General Accounting & GAAP Compliance: Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and ensure all transactions comply with GAAP.
- Month-End Close: Manage the full cycle of month-end close processes, including posting entries, balancing ledgers, and preparing necessary reports.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, variance analysis, and other reporting deliverables to provide insights into financial performance.
- System & Process Improvements: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process enhancements and system improvements to streamline accounting operations.
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and resolving inquiries related to accounting transactions and financial records.
- ERP System Transition: Play a key role in transitioning from the current ERP system (QuickBooks) to a new system over the next year. This includes data migration, system testing, and training.
- Ad-hoc Projects: Support additional financial projects and tasks as needed, including tax filings and other regulatory compliance requirements.
Job Requirements:- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in accounting, with a focus on GAAP compliance, month-end close, and financial reporting.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or in-progress certification is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in QuickBooks (current ERP system) and experience with ERP systems. Familiarity with upcoming ERP software implementations is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with a keen eye for accuracy in financial reporting and data entry.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify process inefficiencies and contribute to solutions that improve accounting operations.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Audit & Compliance Knowledge: Experience in preparing for and supporting audits, with knowledge of regulatory compliance standards.
