We are in search of a reliable Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. The successful candidate will relish working in a fast-paced environment that requires a great degree of organization, prioritization and accuracy. This person should be extremely detail-oriented and a team player. We need someone who can work with the accounting team to ensure that our books are always up-to-date and accurate so that we can make effective decisions about the business.
Responsibilities for the role include:
- Posting daily deposits by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions.
- Bank reconciliations for several accounts.
- Prepare month end closing reports (Sales, Returns, Roll forwards, Debit memos)
- Daily journal entries to record revenue from multiple bank accounts
- Access vendor portals to obtain chargeback information
- Application of adjustments to open return credits and differences to accrual
- Maintain account ledgers as required
- Verifies validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from sales, trade promotions, customer service departments, and from customers;
- Resolves valid or authorized deductions and chargebacks by entering adjusting entries.
- Resolves invalid or unauthorized deductions and chargebacks by following pending deductions procedures.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Assist with year-end audits
Desired skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
- Previous experience in accounting, finance or other related fields
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Advanced mathematical and logical deduction skills
- Strong verbal, written, professional and organizational skills
- Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel)
- Familiarity with accounting software programs (Great Plains a plus)
- Detail oriented; trustworthy
