Our client is a well-established law firm seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to join our finance team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$60,000 – $70,000 plus discretionary bonus
Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for handling full-cycle accounting duties, including preparing financial reports, maintaining general ledger accounts, and assisting with month-end close processes. This Staff Accountant role requires a candidate with strong accounting knowledge, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:
- Manage full-cycle accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial reports, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities, providing timely and accurate financial data for decision-making
- Assist with audits and coordinate with external auditors as needed
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies
- Participate in the preparation of tax filings and other regulatory requirements
- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency
Qualifications for the Staff Accountant:
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a professional services environment (law firm experience is not required)
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required
