About the Job
Responsibilities:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for broad range of accounting activities including weekly processing of invoices for payment, monthly journal entries and financial statement review.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Work with Controller and Operations Management staff to support the business needs of the organization with an emphasis on data extraction and reporting from the ERP system (RentalMan)
- Handles Accounts Payable for assigned locations including:
- invoice and purchase order matching
- analyzes sales and rental tax of all vendor invoices
- Prepare, post routine month-end close journal entries on assigned GL accounts
- Reconciliation of general ledger accounts
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports ensuring accuracy and timely reporting
- Conduct bi-annual supply and parts inventory and related reconciliations
- Assists with internal audits and overhead expense evaluation
- Assists location manager with budget preparation and forecast adjustments
- Investigate and report on unclaimed property within our operating states
- Learn and serve as back-up for other positions within the Accounting department
- Additional miscellaneous duties to support accounting as needed
- 3-5 years of strong accounting experience is required
- Accounting degree preferred
- Strong experience with tax calculations and accruals for multiple states
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel,
- Working knowledge of Rentalman software preferred
- Strong research and problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong communication skills – both oral and written
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Detail oriented
- Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines
