About the Company and Staff Accountant Opportunity:
- Our new client is a non profit in Baltimore, MD in business for over 20 years. This non profit supports the homeless and previous addicts and incarcerated individuals get back on their feet and obtain work!
- Due to growth, they are looking to bring on a Staff Accountant on a contract to hire basis who is skilled in grant accounting and compliance
- Schedule: 8:30am-5pm M-F. 100% in office in Baltimore city. Candidates must be local and have reliable transportation

- Reports to the Accounting Manager
- Responsible for assisting in the implementation of financial policies and procedures regarding general ledger, financial reporting, state and federal regulations compliance, and grantee compliance.
- Perform financial statement preparation and analysis, review and post journal entries and journal vouchers, accounting for petty cash, cash receipts, accounts payable and receivable transactions, payroll, general ledger analysis, designated fund tracking, bank reconciliations, allocations, indirect cost rate calculations, budget development/analysis etc.
- Work collaboratively with the Finance Team and other departments to ensure accurate and timely periodic Grant and Corporate Financial Reporting.
- Maintain schedule of net assets with restrictions
- Prepares invoices/billings based on contracts that with the federal, state, or local government
- Assist with annual audit prep and Form 990 tax submission
- Assist with the preparation and completion of the annual budget, including calculating carryovers and reviewing assumptions
- Prepare forecast monthly
- Participate in various meetings to ensure compliance and reconciliation between Finance Records and Development Records
- Assist in the preparation of monthly grant reports for stakeholders to communicate financial performance, monitor spending, and coordinate modifications to planned spending

Qualifications for the Staff Accountant:
- 3+ years' non profit accounting experience required
- Knowledge of grant accounting and compliance highly required
- Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance preferred
- Intermediate Excel skills
