Position Overview: As a Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role within the finance team, ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions and contributing to the organization’s fiscal health. You will collaborate closely with a cohesive team, performing essential duties such as month-end closing, accounts payable and receivable, journal entries, and maintaining robust internal controls. Your responsibilities will also include financial reporting, audit preparation, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards, and handling travel expense reports and credit card reconciliations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute month-end closing procedures with precision and timeliness.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Prepare and post journal entries accurately and in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure compliance.
- Generate financial reports and assist in audit preparations as needed.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP principles throughout all accounting activities.
- Process and reconcile travel expense reports and credit card statements efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in general ledger accounting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, etc.).
- Experience in non-profit accounting.
- Strong commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
- Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment and contribute to team goals.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- History of job stability and reliability.
Location: This position is based in Atlanta, and we are specifically seeking local talent to join this dynamic team.

- the individual’s skill sets, experience and training;
- licensure and certification requirements;
- office location and other geographic considerations;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
