Position Type: Full-time, non-remote
Summary: We are looking for a highly-skilled and proactive Staff Accountant to join the Finance team. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and summarizing financial data to assist with accurate financial reporting while also supporting staff and colleagues and assisting the ministry with statutory and compliance activities. This role requires strong technical, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively execute the roles and responsibilities of the position.
Competencies:
Technical Accounting Skills – Basic understanding of GAAP (not-for-profit experience is a plus), general ledger processes, close processes, and the software used in these tasks.
Communication Skills – Able to communicate with various people and positions through spoken or written means clearly, accurately, and with understanding.
Teamwork – Balances team and individual responsibilities; exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; gives and welcomes feedback; puts success of the team above own interest.

Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to the following)
- Assist with month-end close activities.
- Record daily/monthly bank entries and perform bank reconciliations at month-end.
- Perform detailed monthly budget reviews.
- Prepare journal entries and monthly reconciliations for various financial statement accounts.
- Support and maintain an adequate internal control environment and periodically review processes for improvements or weaknesses.
- Prepare and perform detailed data analyses and substantive analytics to assist with understanding the results of projects or initiatives.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must exhibit spiritual maturity working as a part of the In Touch team.
- BBA or AAS in Accounting and 0-5 years of accounting experience (not-for-profit experience is a plus)
- Must be detail oriented, but also able to see the big picture, while effectively communicating results and decisions.
- Must possess proficient computer skills, most notably with Microsoft Office/365, and experience with Great Plains accounting system and Management Reporter reporting software is a plus.
