Staff Accountant $86,000 per year

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Provide support to the accounting department’s daily activities including processing, recording, and updating transactions.
2. Assist with the monthly closing procedure.
3. Prepare month-end supporting balance sheet schedules.
4. Assist the accounts payable department.
5. Maintain a wide variety of financial information, files and records for the purpose of ensuring the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines.
6. Assist with internal control functions.
7. Assist with testing the operating effectiveness of various internal controls.
8. Reconcile a wide variety of financial data for the purpose of maintaining accurate account balances.
9. Research and resolve transactional discrepancies for the purpose of ensuring the accuracy of financial information.
10. Respond to inquiries from a wide variety of resources – inter-department, outside customers, players, etc.
11. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and timely information processing of financial reports.
12. Provide support for year-end auditor and tax processing.
13. Above responsibilities include both Casino and Hotel operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Requirements:

• Four-year accounting degree preferred; High School Diploma required.

Work Requirements:

• At least 5 years of experience working in a financial position with knowledge of the following items:
  1. Hands-on knowledge of processing and balancing financial accounts.
  2. Ability to perform account reconciliations & analysis.
  3. Ability to research and solve problems independently.

SCHEDULED HOURS

Commerce Casino operates 24 hours, 7 days a week.  Schedules may vary depending on business needs.
