We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Sr. Underwriter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in Medical Stop Loss, Insurance, Risk Evaluation, and Analysis, with a proven track record of making sound judgment calls. Responsibilities
- Evaluate and underwrite high-level risk insurance applications within the Medical Stop Loss field.
- Analyze complex data to determine the potential risk of loss for the company, using statistical techniques and software.
- Develop and implement underwriting guidelines and negotiate terms with brokers.
- Collaborate with other team members to identify and implement efficient underwriting processes.
- Make recommendations for risk improvement and loss reduction.
- Review and update existing policies and guidelines in line with changes in the industry and regulatory environment.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients to ensure a high level of service is maintained.
- Provide training and guidance to junior underwriters and other staff members.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to strategic planning and decision-making processes.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Senior Underwriter, with a focus in Stop Loss insurance.
- Strong understanding of risk evaluation and analysis techniques.
- Proven ability to make sound decisions based on a thorough understanding of risk and business implications.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze complex data.
- Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to influence others and reach mutually beneficial agreements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with brokers and clients.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency in using underwriting software and tools.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in related fields are a plus.
- Must be willing to continue professional development and stay up-to-date with industry trends and regulatory changes.
