Objectives of this Role:
- Work with a team of engineers and technicians to develop and execute experiments to understand how complex hardware will operate in extreme working conditions.
- Use creativity to help replicate real-world environmental conditions (examples: high pressure and temperature) in a laboratory setting.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Install and remove piping components and assemblies, load/unload and move test articles, and assist with installing and wiring of instrumentation.
- Assist in the servicing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical and fluid handling equipment.
- Operate experimental flow loop tests, including and validation tests complying with American Petroleum Institute standards.
- Drive institute vehicles and forklifts, and operate cranes and other lift devices.
- Communicate with SwRI staff, customers, and vendors regarding work status; prepare test data and assist in preparing test reports.
- Participate in continuous operational and safety improvement processes while working in a team environment.
Requirements:
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent
- Mechanical systems or fluid systems certifications or continuing education is preferred
- 2-10 years: Familiarity with mechanical tools and systems, pumps, valves, piping systems in areas such as plumbing, HVAC, and oil and gas work
- Must be well organized with a strong attention to details
- A valid/clear driver's license is required
