About the Job
As a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) in Marketing Program Management, you will provide program coordination amongst the Marketing teams responsible for the overall vision, content strategy, and development of a set of integrated solutions that promote Avalara's products and services on the corporate website, as well as technologies that enable our Marketing and Sales teams greater efficiencies.
You will report directly to the Sr. Manager, Technical Program Management and will be based in Durham, NC with access to our Durham Office. #LI-Hybrid
You Will:
- Engage with partners in Marketing, Sales Development, Customer Support and Development teams to yield complete program implementation plans, timelines and ensure requirements are translated into an actionable roadmap and backlog ready for prioritization into appropriate value streams (development streams.)
- Propose, plan, and implement new features, integrations, and capabilities, including facilitating the adoption of these new experiences (training, enablement, authoring, etc).
- Maximize value produced by the Development teams by prioritizing and balancing trade-offs to maintain Return on investment (RIO) / quality. Own and nurture the vision for your areas of responsibility, ensuring strategic alignment.
- Manage cross-team dependencies, risks, and inform decision makers of trade-offs against development effort and return on investment.
- Monitor performance and report out on project health and indicators for success with stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues that block or reduce the team's ability to meet business goals.
- Promote collaboration, communication, and commitment across multiple groups
- Help manage, improve, and enforce processes and policies for project intake and management
- Participate in Agile ceremonies.
- Create and maintain internal user documentation, including supporting business logic and operational workflows.
- You have Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, IT-related discipline or equivalent experience
- 7+ years in a technical project/program management role, working across different organizational levels.
- Technical knowledge in system management, enterprise Content Management System, multi-tier web tools/applications and other enterprise tools
- You can manage complex software/hardware projects, utilizing agile methodologies such as Scrum/Kanban and agile project management tools
- You can guide and develop productive working relationships with resources and internal or external customers
- You have the knowledge and confidence to understand, test, and challenge statements and assumptions working with respective technology owners.
- You understand technical implementation at the architecture level and propose technical alternatives when vital. Ask questions that clarify priorities and support the team
- You can lead projects with many cross-dependencies between independent teams and deliver results that are coherent and supported
- You have verbal and written communication skills to provide status and manage expectations
