If so, the University of Rochester’s Laboratory for Laser Energetics **(LLE) is looking for you** ! Here at LLE, we take pride in being a national resource for research and education in both science and technology! Our focus is on using lasers to create fusion energy! Pretty cool, right?! You have the chance to join our team! LLE is looking for its next **Experimental Technician.**
**An Experimental Tech is responsible for:**
+ Supporting the operation of equipment and instrumentation for laser physics experiments
+ Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues
+ Performing preventative maintenance
+ Supporting engineers in design and installation of new equipment
+ Operating and maintaining complex vacuum systems
+ Second shift work
+ Performing radiological management activities
**What’s needed to be successful in this role:**
+ Strong mechanical aptitude
+ Ability to work in a cleanroom environment
+ Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
+ High degree of manual dexterity
+ Excellent verbal and written communication
+ Strong interpersonal skills working in a team-based environment
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn additional software
**You’re a great candidate for this role if you:**
+ Have availability to work second shift
+ Have experience with electrical, controls, and vacuum systems
+ Have experience with handling precision optical components
+ Are proficient with reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical schematics
+ Have technical writing experience
**How to qualify for this role:**
+ Have an Associate degree and >5 yrs experience in technology or engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience in a technical field
+ Have the ability to obtain a security clearance

**Pay Range**
Pay Range: $ 53,500 - $ 85,000 Annually
_The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._
