Summary
Basic responsibilities include working closely with the Sales Tax Director in sales/use tax audit management, maintenance of Vertex sales/use tax calculation software, and providing strategic sales/use tax services with the focus on ensuring that the minimum sales/use tax legally due is paid to the appropriate tax authorities.
This position will support our Finance team. It is eligible to work a hybrid schedule, generally requiring work in-office and/or show-site 2-3 days per week. This position is based out of North Dallas office location in Dallas, TX.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
+ Maintain Vertex taxability, parts mapping, and exemption certificate functionality.
+ Assist with conducting sales/use tax research and documenting tax positions for existing and new product offerings.
+ Assist with managing sales/use tax audits and appeals.
+ Process and analyze business data to support sales and use tax audits and process improvement.
+ Assist with the integration of newly acquired companies’ sales/use tax activities.
+ Provide excellent customer service by responding to business unit and external customer inquiries on sales and use tax matters including application of tax exemptions and taxability determinations.
+ Identifying and realizing sales/use tax savings opportunities.
+ Identifying and reducing risks of sales/use tax exposure.
+ Assist with developing and providing sales tax training for internal departments, including AR, AP, Sales, Procurement, etc.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with 3+ years of relevant multi-state Sales Tax compliance experience
+ Solid understanding of indirect and transactional tax principles and concepts
+ Proven experience with Vertex and/or other automated tax compliance software
+ Knowledge of Canadian GST/HST/PST/QST is a plus
+ Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to details
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills
+ Ability to work with all levels of internal and external customers
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint
+ Intermediate experience using Alteryx and Power BI preferred
